Content marketing is always going to be a part of a blogger’s life, but some of them just do not know how to make a compelling article that is enticing enough that people would actually subscribe to a blog.

Start with a Captivating Headline

With so many articles out there online, how can you make sure that people will actually click on yours and not the others? Well, it all starts with the headline, so you want to create one that actually captivates your readers.

There are so many tips to help you write a captivating headline. One thing that you can do is to include a number before the headline, such as “5 tips to…”. Another thing that you can do is to write a headline that evokes emotion while also inviting them to read on- something like “Losing weight is easy if you read this article”.

Cut the Jargon

Industry jargon is a huge no-no when it comes to creating a blog post. That is because even if you cater to a target audience, not a lot of them actually knows certain esoteric words. Therefore, you must make it a point to use words that are easy to understand for the layman.

If you absolutely have to include industry jargon, then you should explain it in a way that the common folk can understand.

Utilize Bullet Points

There are so many things that you can do to help provide more structure to your blog posts- one of which is the use of bullet points.

A lot of people now create listicles because they provide so much information in bite-sized and readable chunks. Utilize bullet points by labeling each one and providing the right information in each of them.

Use Proper Punctuation

Aside from big walls of text, improper use or not using punctuation marks at all can deter your readers from having an enjoyable experience reading your articles. Always use punctuation marks to help guide your readers.

Blog for Mobile

In this day and age, people actually use their mobile devices to read content online. Use responsive design to cater to your mobile crowd.

Make Your Content Legible

Another thing that frustrates your readers is if you write a blog post with quite a small and unreadable font. As a rule of thumb, use 14px or 16px for your font size and never use calligraphic fonts.

Use Bolds and Italics

There are times where you want to put more emphasis on some words. Therefore, you need to utilize bolds and italics in a way that will help emphasize certain points. Use them well, but use them sparingly.

Tell a Story

Blog posts should never be written in a formal tone. You’re not writing a term paper here. Write your posts in a more conversational tone- one that aims to either entertain or educate.
